Sugar Ornamental Cookies.
This recipe is from the kitchen of Kathleen Serra.
Oven 400. 5-7 minutes
4 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup soft butter
2 tablespoons Whiskey OR 2 TABLESPOONS EACH MILK AND LEMON JUICE
1 tablespoon vanilla
Mixed flour, sugar, salt and baking powder - add butter. Mix with fingers until small balls form. Add eggs, whiskey and vanilla. Need dough until it holds together. Refrigerate at least 1 hour, overnight is best. Divide into two balls roll out dough into one quarter inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet or use parchment paper. Decorate before baking. To hang on tree add hole after 5 minutes of bake time.
Cookie paint is simply evaporated milk with food coloring.
